![]() ![]() On the world map, the Touch Screen will display the total amount of Star Coins collected. In this game and subsequent appearances, collected Star Coins will show up as translucent on subsequent playthroughs of a level a Star Coin does not count as collected until the player completes the level. Collecting a Star Coin adds 1,000 points to the player's score some Star Coins may be hidden in areas that require power-ups such as the Mini Mushroom or the Blue Shell to access or collect them. Hop down to snaffle the final Star Coin.In New Super Mario Bros., there are three Star Coins in each of the eighty levels for a total of 240 Star Coins. ![]() If you're Fire Mario then the Super Piranha Plant won't be a problem, otherwise, you can jump on the red Koopa Troopa and throw his shell into the plant to destroy it. Hit it, then jump onto it and enter the pipe to the left. On the left side, under the pipe, there is a hidden block. Just before the goal, you'll see four pipes with Piranha Plants coming out of them. When it does, walk across and grab the Star Coin. You might think the coin is now inaccessible, but you simply need to wait for the first gate to close. Wait for the Piranha Plant to retreat back into his pipe, and drop down. Fall down through the first gate and move to the left to open the second one. After you've emerged from the second, climb up and you'll see a Super Piranha Plant to your left. Jump over it and continue until you see a coin roulette box. ![]() The second Star Coin isn't until much later in the level, after you've been boosted upwards through two pipes. Soon you'll come to an open room with a red Koopa Troopa. Ground-pound the blocks above it and fall through. Early in the level you'll see a yellow gate with an arrow pointing downwards. ![]()
